Jim Gregory

When the White Rose Conference team were planning the autumn event, it quickly became apparent that web expertise would be useful in supporting the marketing. Fortunately, they knew that that Jim Gregory had a thriving Web Design and Internet Services business in Manchester. When he was approached to help out, he gladly volunteered his time and that of his staff to the project. Although we suspect that even he underestimated the amount of work that would be involved to maintain the online booking system, the website and the newsletters.

Jim has been a Toastmaster for around 8 years. He discovered the joys of Toastmastering when he joined with 2 others to set up the then new Manchester Orators club. As a member of the Manchester club, he has held every committee role except treasurer (he only spends money!!!). Since establishing the Manchester club, he has been sponsor of several other new clubs.

In 2008 he was Area 15 Governor and for the 2009/2010 TM year he was elected Division E Governor. Jim expects to acheive his DTM during the current Toastmasters year. He would probably have acheived his DTM faster had he not been spending so much timehelping other Toastmasters work through their manuals.

They say if you want something doing, you should ask a busy man and Jim epitomises that aphorism.

Jim has a successful company with his son Paul and his ever loving wife Val, to whom he has been married for 36 years this October. Jim also manages to find time to work on starting new clubs, liaising with Area Governors and District to continue the success of Toastmasters.

During the early part of the year Jim suffered several health setbacks but we are pleased to know that he is now getting back to his full strength and once again contributing his unique irreverent style to proceedings.
