By selecting this package, you will be able to enjoy the competitions and workshops for both Saturday and Sunday whilst making your own arrangements for food.

This is particularly good for those of you who will be staying locally instead of at the hotel or for those that are within daily travelling distance of York.

We are particularly pleased that we are able to offer such a low cost ‘taster’ package that may give access to the competitions and workshops for those that otherwise could not justify paying for the full conference experience.

A glance at the top right corner of this website reveals the amount of time left before the conference commences. The White Rose Conference committee continue to work hard to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible and that each delegate gets the maximum benefit from attendance.

As you may have read elsewhere, the hotel room availability is now down to the last few rooms and so to avoid disappointment, it is essential that bookings are made now.

Contestant reservations

The finalists from some districts are not yet known and those contestants may not have booked rooms, consequently we have reserved places for contestants.Contestants needing to take up the special allocation will need to contact us directly rather than use the online booking facility.

Alternative accommodation

Although there are many other hotels in the centre of York, our recent research shows that they are generally fully booked too. The only accommodation likely to be available after all hotel accommodation is allocated will be in local B&B type establishments.

‘Local Toastmasters’

There are hundreds of Toastmasters members within easy travelling distance of York that would not need hotel accommodation. We invite every Toastmaster that can make it to York for even one day, to come along and share in the fantastic experiences of the conference and competitions. Simply book a day pass from £10 per day.

It will be amazing

The committee are confident that this will be an amazing conference and contest and that everyone will benefit from attendance. If you have never attended before, make the White Rose Conference your first and you’ll be glad you did.

They are an eight piece band specialising in Tamla Motown and soul music from the sixties.

They have a brass section and two singers and if they don’t get you wanting to dance then nothing will.

They have been tested to destruction for their danceability by two members of the conference team.

For the opening ceremony on Friday night we have booked Shepherd Group Band.

They are the City of York’s premier brass band.

This award winning band will play a selection of appropriate music for the opening ceremony.

Later, one of York’s top DJ’s will ensure that everyone has their favourite music to dance to.

Clarke took on the Herculean task of contacting over 200 clubs in District 71 to compile a list of all the winners that will go through to their respective area competitions.

The lucky winner selected by the sophisticated online random system was Josephine Gibney of Dublin.

When told of her lucky win, Josephine said that she was very pleased and looks forward to enjoying the luxury room during the conference.

The draw was made using a specialised web facility which allows organisations to operate such draws with total impartiality.

The system also allows the participants of the draw to verify that they were entered into the draw.

The identifier used for entering into the draw was an individuals email address. Where 2 people were booked with the same email address, the email address was entered twice.

At the White Rose Conference we recognise this and we wish that every first timer gets a great experience. We wish them to have a great time and to go away having learned a lot as well.

To help the first timers, we are putting together a ‘fun’ competition that will increase their enjoyment of the conference.
All first timers will be welcomed at a special reception either on the Friday afternoon or the Saturday morning, depending upon when you arrive. We will give you lots of information of how to enjoy the conference.

In addition, the conference team has put together a competition for all first timers, with a very special prize, that will make sure the first timers know far more about Toastmasters than when they arrived.

It will be FUN –guaranteed.

The conference team chose the Royal Hotel, York because we believe it meets the high standards we set out at the beginning of this journey to host the White Rose Conference.

This belief has been supported by our District Governor, Joe Gibbs, who visited the Hotel and met the team earlier this year. He, and his wife Marina, were impressed by both the hotel and York itself. Whilst here Joe & Marina also took time to attend the ‘late’ Christmas dinner that Strictly Speaking Harrogate were hosting.

In early September, we are welcoming Teresa Dukes, Lieutenant Governor – Education & Training, to York to see the venue and to update the team on the workshops to be provided. Whilst Teresa is ‘up north’ we are hosting a BBQ to allow local members to come a meet a member of the District Executive.

There are a number of different options available from the full conference to the experiencing the speech contests.

The Sunday only booking allows you to experience the Table Topics contest for just £10.

For the Saturday you can book for the whole day including the workshops or the day and evening adding the evening dinner, or just the Saturday afternoon speech contest.
